The President receives UN Assistant Secretary-General and the President of the National Assembly

The President of the Republic, Dr Janez Drnovšek, today received the UN Assistant Secretary-General, Dr Danilo Tϋrk to discuss the UN's current work, preparations for the UN general assembly and international initiatives that will be in progress during the General Assembly session to take place in the second half of September at the UN headquarters in New York. President Drnovšek and the UN Assistant Secretary-General, Dr Tϋrk, also exchanged their respective views and positions on the activities being pursued by the international community in Iraq, Afghanistan and Kosovo.
Dr Drnovšek today also held a meeting with the new President of the National Assembly, Mr Feri Horvat, who informed the President of the activities planned by the National Assembly of the Republic of Slovenia until the next elections.
