The President congratulates Dr Franc Rode

The President of the Republic Dr Janez Drnovšek has congratulated His Eminence Dr Franc Rode on the decision of Pope Benedict XVI to appoint him cardinal.
The President stated that the appointment is a recognition of the Cardinal’s life’s work and is also a sign of the special attention and honour which the Holy Father has shown Dr Rode’s homeland and all Slovene Catholics. The President expressed his conviction that Cardinal Rode will bear his new function and honour with the same dignity he has shown in all the other functions he has accepted in his life.
