The President stressed in his address that the international community should achieve binding international agreement on greenhouse gas emission limits. According to his words, we should focus on a much more active inclusion of the business community, since it could be a big ally in combating climate change. Among the problems, with which the individual governments are faced, the President pointed out budgetary constraints. We must be aware that changes will not appear overnight, the President said, and added that we should find adequate public funds to invest in transformative technologies.

In continuation, the President, Dr Danilo Türk, participated in the High-Level Event on Libya held by the United Nations Organization Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon. In the press release, the President stated that the discussion was, to a large extent, dedicated to political processes in Libya and to international support which should enable representative, democratic and effective authority to appear. Here, the international community will continue to assist, but according to the President, the key responsibility lies with the actors in the Libyan conflict.

In the afternoon, local time, the President also participated in the conclusion of a UN High-level Meeting on the Prevention and Control of Non-communicable Diseases.
