"We, the politicians must be fully aware of the consequences of our actions. We need to be unifying, not destructive. We must promote tolerance, not hostility.
I condemn the attack on the symbol of American democracy. I condemn any acts of violence. I express my sincere condolences to both leaders of the House of Representatives and Senate and to the relatives of the victims.
I believe in democracy and emphasise the importance of the stability of its institutions, including elections as the foundation of democracy.
I have confidence in the strength and vitality of American democracy, which will overcome these challenges, and transition period will conclude smoothly.
I am confident that President-elect Biden, together with all moderate political forces, will reunite the currently deeply-divided America, and I sincerely look forward to our future cooperation."
