The President of the Republic of Slovenia addressed the Paris Peace Forum via videoconference

Ljubljana, 12. 11. 2020 | press release, speech

The President of the Republic of Slovenia Borut Pahor addressed the Paris Peace Forum today via videoconference.

This years Paris Peace Forum is centered on the collective response to Coronavirus, both in terms of improving our response and resilience, and of rebuilding a more sustainable world, with the common objective of bouncing back to a better planet.

We here publish the address by Borut Pahor, President of the Republic of Slovenia:

"Post-covid world will be as we will make of it. If we are ready to learn, corona crisis has tought us many lessons. The pandemic accelerated several already existing processes, some of inspiring power, others rather worrying ones. At the same time it showed our strength.

Even more than before we know how important solid democratic institutions and welfare state are. Politically, economically, and socially healthy societies will come out of this and many other crisis, stronger.
We are more and more aware of the need to be better prepared for challenges such as climate change and human friendly digitalisation.

I see the post-covid world as the world of closer cooperation, more solidarity, stronger compassion - in our families, neighbourhoods, working places, on the state level, internationally. None of the great challenges we could manage alone. Together we are stronger."
