Traditional annual meeting of four Slovenian Presidents

Ljubljana, 10. 12. 2018 | press release

The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, today hosted the annual meeting of four Presidents at the Presidential Palace. The meeting was attended by Speaker Dejan Židan, Prime Minister Marjan Šarec, and National Council President Alojz Kovšca.

The purpose of these annual meetings, which were introduced by President Pahor in 2014, is to exchange views on certain state issues that require extensive political cooperation and support for successful resolution. At this year's meeting, the four Presidents discussed issues relating to the amendments of the electoral legislation, the election of the new Ombudsman (a two-thirds majority in the National Assembly is required for election), topical foreign and security policy issues, the national consensus on the future with regard to climate issues, the formation of regions and other matters requiring broader political approval.
