The meeting of the Brdo-Brijuni Process leaders will be held on 3 June in Slovenia

As leaders of the Brdo-Brijuni Process, the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, and the President of the Republic of Croatia, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, signed a letter of invitation to the leaders of the Process at an international security conference in Montenegro. They notified them that this year’s meeting will be held on 3 June in Slovenia, in Brdo pri Kranju. This year's guest of honour at the conference will be the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

The meeting, to which the President of Slovenia, Borut Pahor, and the President of Croatia, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, are jointly inviting leaders, will be held on 3 June 2017 in Brdo pri Kranju in Slovenia. It will be attended by: the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, the President of Montenegro, Filip Vujanović, all three members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dragan Čović, Mladen Ivanić, and Bakir Izetbegović, the President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, the President of FYR Macedonia, Gjorge Ivanov, the President of Albania, Bujar, Nishani, and the guest of honour, the President of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier.

In the past, the guests of honour at these meetings have included the President of France, François Hollande (2013), the German Chancellor, Angela Merkel (2014), the President of Austria, Heinz Fischer (2015), the Vice-President of the United States, Joe Biden, the President of the European Council, Donald Tusk (2015), and the President of Italy Sergio Mattarella (2016).

By holding this year’s meeting of the leaders of the Brdo Brijuni Process, the leaders of the initiative, the President of Slovenia and the President of Croatia, wish to strengthen the trust and commitment to stability and reconciliation in the region of Southeast Europe. Due to the current situation in Europe and the world, the strengthening of political dialogue, creating trust and the urgency of ongoing resolution of open bilateral and regional issues are of major importance.

At today’s informal bilateral meeting, the President of Slovenia and the President of Croatia also discussed bilateral issues and committed to strengthen political dialogue on all levels, particularly with regard to a more flexible regime for crossing the state border.
