PRESIDENT RECEIVES PRESIDENTS OF HUNGARIAN ZALA AND ZELEZNA ZUPANIJA COUNTIES

Ljubljana, 25 April 2000

President of the Republic Milan Kucan today received the presidents of Hungary's Zala and Zelezna Zupanija counties, who are visiting Slovenia. The County Presidents informed the President of the Republic on their economic development plans and the plans for constructing transport links with Slovenia, which are of extreme importance for the broader Central European region. The construction of the railroad link is of particular importance since it opens the door to the Port of Koper for the Hungarian economy.

The discussion also focused on cross-border co-operation as well as on the Hungarian minority in Slovenia and the Slovenian minority in Hungary.
