President Türk receives President of the Community of Sant'Egidio

The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Danilo Türk, has received the President of the Community of Sant’Egidio, Dr Marco Impagliazzo. Their talks centred on the Community of Sant'Egidio's projects in the Western Balkans.

Dr Impagliazzo brought Dr Türk up to speed with the preparations underway for the 26th International Meeting of Prayer for Peace to be held in September this year in Sarajevo. The meeting will be based on two elements – the dialogue between religions and civilisations, and Sarajevo's status as a symbol of coexistence.

President Türk welcomed the initiative, stressing that local knowledge, representative participation and the cooperation of neighbouring countries are vital for its success. He also highlighted the importance of the role played by religious leaders in improving the atmosphere and building trust between the communities of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
