President of Slovenia receives the Prime Minister of Montenegro

The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Danilo Türk, received the Prime Minister of Montenegro, Milo Đukanović (photo: Daniel Novakovič/STA)The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Danilo Türk, received the Prime Minister of Montenegro, Milo Đukanović. In their talks, the President and the Prime Minister addressed the bilateral relations and the issue of enlargement of the European Union and NATO Alliance.

They agreed that relations between Slovenia and Montenegro are developing well, and drew attention to the significance of the Agreement on social insurance, signed today by the Minister of Labour, Family and Social Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Ivan Svetlik, and the Minister of Labour and Social Welfare of Montenegro, Dr Suad Numanović.

Prime Minister Đukanović presented Montenegro’s views on the forthcoming establishment of Montenegro’s status as a candidate for membership in the European Union and especially highlighted the need for setting a date for EU membership negotiations. The President of Slovenia and the Prime Minister of Montenegro also discussed the situation in Western Balkans.
