President of the Republic meets the representatives of the public-sector trade unions

Dr Danilo Türk, President of the Republic of Slovenia, today met the representatives of several public-sector trade unions who had called for a general strike on 30 January 2008 as a warning action. The trade union representatives informed the President of the situation of employees in the public sector and the reasons for the planned strike.

The participants in the meeting expressed their shared belief that issues outstanding must be resolved by agreement.
