President Türk congratulated Barack Obama on the award of the Nobel Peace Prize

The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Danilo Türk, congratulated the President of the United States of America, Barack Obama, on the award of the Nobel Peace Prize 2009:

President Türk wrote: "The decision of the Nobel Committee recognizes your endeavors and determination to create a new climate in international politics. Your vision has inspired a new wave of optimism in the United States and globally. In less than a year, following your inauguration as the 44th President of the United States of America, we have witnessed new leadership of America with a strengthened role of diplomacy, a reinvigorated position of multilateral institutions, and a renewed aspiration for the world without nuclear weapons. I firmly believe that this award will further strengthen your commitment to promote peace and human rights and to combat climate change and poverty. Your leadership will continue to be needed. Your efforts to make our world a better place for all human beings will be recognized not only by the Nobel Prize Committee, but also by the generations to come."
