The President of the Republic meets with Danish Prime Minister Rasmussen

The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Danilo Türk, this morning received the Danish Prime Minister, Anders Fogh Rasmussen. Dr Türk and Mr Rasmussen assessed the cooperation between the two countries on European and international affairs as positive. They devoted special attention to topical issues of the South-Eastern Europe and the region’s European perspective and exchanged views on general conditions for the integration of the countries of the region into the European Union.

During the meeting, President Türk and Danish Prime Minister Rasmussen also talked about the ratification process of the Lisbon Treaty in the EU Member States and discussed issues relating to its implementation. Mr Rasmussen congratulated Slovenia and welcomed yesterday’s ratification of the Lisbon Treaty. He said that he expected the Danish Parliament to ratify the new reform Treaty as early as in the first half of this year.
