Slovenian President receives former Secretary-General of the United Nations

The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Danilo Türk, invited Kofi Annan, the former Secretary-General of the United Nations, to a working visit to Slovenia. The Slovenian President and his guest discussed topical international issues, specifically addressing the situation on the African continent and global scenarios for exiting the economic and financial crisis. They agreed that every effort must be made to preserve humanitarian and development projects that offer a realistic vision for implementation of the Millennium Development Goals. The two dignitaries also spoke about the activities of the United Nations. In addition, President Türk acquainted his distinguished guest with the current economic and social situation in Slovenia.
