President Türk: 'Slovenia has three capitals'
Lendava, 25.8.2012 | press release
The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Danilo Türk, and his wife, Barbara Miklič Türk, attended the Bogračfest 2012 festivities in Lendava. In his address, President Türk pointed out that Slovenia has currently three capitals: Ljubljana as the national capital, Maribor as the European Capital of Culture, and Lendava as the world capital of bograč (a goulash-like stew).
The idea for the tourist promotion of Lendava by way of this Pannonian culinary speciality was suggested by the president upon his visit to student Bogračfest five years ago. Today, he expressed his satisfaction over the successful realisation of this idea and his belief that this event will attract even more attention in the years ahead.
The president also commended the enthusiasm of Anton Balažek, the mayor of Lendava, who, supported by his team, has realised several quality projects. On this occasion, President Türk presented an award to the best young bograč chefs, members of the Lendava Student Club.
