President Türk receives three newly-appointed Ambassadors to Slovenia

Ljubljana, 17.1.2008  |  press release

The Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the Republic of Slovenia, Mr Predrag Filipov, the Ambassador of the Republic of Iceland, Mr Svavar Gestsson, and the Ambassador of the Republic of Estonia, Mr Miko Haljas today presented their Letters of Credence to the Slovenian President, Dr Danilo Türk.

The new Serbian Ambassador, Mr Filipov replaced the last ambassador of Serbia and Montenegro to Slovenia, Mr Ranko Milovi?, whose term of office expired in summer 2006 before the referendum on the independence of Montenegro. Since then, the diplomatic mission of Serbia, which had assumed the succession of the State Union of Serbia and Montenegro, had been headed by the Chargé d’Affaires a.i. The talks between President Türk and Ambassador Filipov centred on issues regarding Serbia’s moving closer to the European Union.

President Türk and the Estonian Ambassador, Mr Miko Haljas, whose head office is in Budapest, discussed possibilities of wider economic cooperation.

The newly-appointed Ambassador of Iceland, Mr Svavar Gestsson, whose head office is in Copenhagen, and the Slovenian President shared the view that the two countries have always traditionally enjoyed good relations. They also exchanged opinions about the UN’s activities.
