President of the Republic of Slovenia and UN Deputy Secretary-General on achieving Millennium Development Goals

The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Danilo Türk, today received the UN Deputy Secretary-General, Dr Asha-Rose Migiro. Their talks focused on achieving the Millennium Development Goals and on development projects featuring at the forefront of the UN’s debate, which are scheduled to be one of the main topics discussed at the forthcoming meeting of the United Nations General Assembly. The UN Deputy Secretary-General said she was delighted at the Slovenian President's decision to represent Slovenia in the general debate at the forthcoming meeting of the UN General Assembly, scheduled to take place on 25 September 2008 in New York. Dr Asha-Rose Migiro commended Slovenia on its involvement in issues related to development and exchanged views with Dr Türk on the progress achieved in this area.
