Brdo pri Kranju, 25.5.2012 | press release
The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Danilo Türk, received the President of the European Council, Herman Van Rompuy, with whom he discussed topical EU issues and the economic crisis.
The Slovenian President and the President of the European Council stressed the importance of the structural reforms and long-term measures that are essential to stimulate sustainable growth and development in the euro area. Short-term measures are pressing but insufficient on their own. Both agreed that structural reforms and the long-term promotion of growth were necessary.
President Türk drew particular attention to the issue of cohesion funds, the importance of which should not be diminished at this time, and will be discussed in the coming months by the bodies of the European Union.
