Slovenian President Dissolves the National Assembly and Calls for Early Elections
Ljubljana, 21.10.2011 | press release
On 21 October 2011 at 00.01 hours, the Slovenian President Danilo Türk signed an order on the dissolution of the Slovenian National Assembly and on early elections of its members.
Mr Türk dissolved the National Assembly as of 21 October 2011 and called for early parliamentary elections to take place on 4 December 2011. Signing the relevant order, the Slovenian President also set 21 October 2011 as the start date for election-related activities.
The purpose of his signing the order so early in the day was to enable the election-related activities to be carried out as soon as possible. It will therefore already be possible to carry out the initial activities (submitting the candidacies and collecting signatures in support) today, as soon as the administrative units open.
