President Danilo Türk receives the OSCE Secretary General

The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Danilo Türk, receives the OSCE Secretary General, Marc Perrin de Brichambaut (FA BOBO)The President of the Republic of Slovenia, Dr Danilo Türk, today received the Secretary General of the Organisation for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), Marc Perrin de Brichambaut. Dr Türk and Mr de Brichambaut discussed issues relating to the OSCE’s long-term development and its position in the changing world. In their talks, they touched on the OSCE’s experience of cooperation with the Russian Federation and on new ideas for the necessary changes in the security architecture of Europe and the world.

Mr de Brichambaut informed Dr Türk of the course of yesterday’s presidential elections in Macedonia, which the OSCE assessed as successful. They also discussed the OSCE’s activities in the fields of minority protection and assistance in the preparation of elections. They devoted special attention to the operation of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR), headed by Janez Lenarčič, both agreeing that the Office can significantly contribute to the successful preparation and conduct of the forthcoming elections in Afghanistan.
